The Holocaust Memorial of Miami Beach was dedicated to the 6 million holocast victims in 1985. The dominant image is the 42 foot high bronze hand, The Sculpture of Love and Anguish," which includes an Auschwitz number on the forearm and 130 human figures cast in bronze in various forms of anguish. This shows the dramatically painful capacity of toska.
I've always been fascinated by being alone together--it seems to me to exhibit a great sorrow--to be surrounded by faceless, nameless people. It makes me think of books like Kitchen (Yoshimoto) and Paper Towns (John Green).
This picture has bright colors in the background, yes, but there's a certain melancholy in the figures: in their shapelessness and featurelessness. They're obviously feeling melancholy as they move without clothes or shoes. The background is also distinctly empty: they're going from nowhere to nowhere with nothing.
